ABOUT ME
HOW UYGT STARTED
Since 2008, the Uptown Entertainment Development Corporation has served as a worksite provider for youth between the ages of 14-18 through WorkReady Philadelphia. Each year interns participate in a 6-week summer internship and receive workforce development training, technology skills, non-profit management training and college English courses. Our interns have been some of the most creative and artistic youth of Philadelphia which led to them suggesting that the organization begin a performing arts program and talent show "Uptown Youth Got Talent." UYGT continues to be a premier S.T.E.A.M. education program for youth to both hone artistic abilities and develop workforce development skills. Interns have returned as volunteers for the organization and have even been hired for employment with UEDC and more recently landed a job with State Representative Leslie Acosta's office through our referral.
